Stylish Blogger

I awoke this morning to a blanket of fresh snow.  Secretly I was hoping for a snow day as I could always use extra time in the classroom to organise, clean and plan my school year.  However I love my class and am always happy to spend my day with them.  And I’m glad classes were in session, otherwise we would not have had the pleasure to be visited by Canadian novelist and children’s book author Sigmund Brouwer.  The kids were so engaged and were talking about his visit all afternoon.

No new eats today.  I do have to eat the left overs before cooking something new.  Keep an eye out for something new in the next couple of days.

When I got home tonight, I was excited to find out that Jess at Dairy Free Betty awarded me with my first ever award.  Very cute!  Thanks Jess.

Ok here are the details.

There are 4 duties to perform to accept this award:

1.  Make a post + Link back to the person who awarded you this award.
2.  Share 7 things about yourself.
3.  Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers
4.  Contact these bloggers and tell them they’ve won!

Seven things huh?

1 – I am in my 7th year of teaching.  I’ve been teaching French Immersion at an elementary school level for 4 yrs, but began my career teaching at the high school levels.  I am much more suited to teaching the younger kids…not so much patience with the adolescents anymore.  Some days are still frustrating, but I love my job as a whole.  The kids are such sponges and I love making a difference in their lives.

2 -  I was not born in Canada.  My parents and I moved to Canada when I was 2 1/2 from Germany.  I’ve only been back to visit twice since 1982 (sigh…), but plan on going back in October for my grandpa’s 100th birthday.

3 – I love being outdoors.  I love to snowboard, snowshoe, hike, camp, fish, kayak, run, relaxing on the beach, mountain biking…. you name it, anything outdoors.

4 –   I love most sports and being active….I regularly participate in Kickboxing and Ice Hockey.

5 – When I went to Quebec to study 8 yrs ago, I got myself a belly piercing.  I do not have any tattoos.

6 – I am not married, but am in a relationship with an awesome guy and 3 kids.  I couldn’t imagine my life without them.

7 – In 2008, I competed in my first 2 events.  My goal was not to come in first place, but instead to finish the races.  I completed a 32 km run/walk within 4 hours and a monster 64.5 km run/walk in 11hours.  I was so proud of myself for my accomplishments.  This May I will be competing in a team adventure relay race which will take us from a ski hill to the ocean.
